Tuesday, August 28

Special Events: 

Last Week:  This is the last week for kids to learn about New York City garden plants and animals through hands-on exploration, story time, and garden hunts. Each week, young urban gardeners will explore a different nature theme and then create their own windowsill planting or nature craft to green up their home or neighborhood. The event is canceled in rain or heat of 95°F or above. Meet in Discovery Garden. For more information, visit bbg.org/discovery. , 1000 Washington Avenue, 1:30 p.m. Free.

Sea Lion Feeding This daily event features the Prospect Park Zoo sea lions showing off their dives, catching fish mid-air and other tricks. , 450 Flatbush Avenue, 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., Free with zoo admission of $8 adults, $5 kids 3-12.

Brooklyn Children's Museum Events The cheerful museum has events for kids all day. See their schedule here. 145 Brooklyn Ave. bet. St. Marks and Prospect. Free with admission of $7.50 for everyone 1 year and older.  

 

Wednesday, August 29

Amazing Ken Magic Show A magic show for kids ages 6 to 17. , 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Grand Army Plaza, Free.

Sing-Along at Tea Lounge Yellow Sneaker leads a weekly sing-along with puppets. 837 Union St. at Seventh Avenue. 10 a.m. $5 per family.

Story Time with Mary Jo Play Kids, 676 Flatbush Ave., bet. Hawthorne and Winthrop. 10 a.m., $5/family.

 Drop-in weekly story times with music, stories, puppets and more for ages 0-5. Birth Day Presence Studio, 182 Eighth Ave., bet. Garfield and First Street. 4 p.m. $5 per family.

Mini Keyboard with Leslie A beginning keyboard class for kids 1-4 years old that teaches notes and keys through symbols and colors. Play Kids, 676 Flatbush Ave., bet. Hawthorne and Winthrop. 3:30 p.m., $5/child.

Special Events:

 In August the carousel is free on Thursdays! Open Thursdays through Sundays, 12 to 6 p.m. Enter Prospect Park at the Willink entrance, located at Ocean and Flatbush Avenues and Empire Boulevard.

 

Weekly Events:

 Lloyd is away until September, but Chris (Booker Dee) of the Deedle Deedle Dees is leading this 45-minute sing-along. , 755 Dean St (at the corner of Underhill Ave), 10:30 a.m., $5/family.

Transit Tots Stories, games and more. Ages 2-5. New York Transit Museum, Corner of Boerum Pl & Schermerhorn St, 11 a.m., Free with museum admission (adults $7, kids 2-17 and seniors $5).  

Story Craft Listen to a story and create a craft.  , 25 4th Ave. at Pacific St. 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Free.
