Police Blotter: Thief Hits Jackpot in Car Break-In and $1 Shoplifting Arrest

Car Break-In Jackpot

A man reported that $990 worth of property was stolen from his car in the middle of the afternoon after he left it parked on Bergen Street between Classon and Franklin.  The man left the car on April 9 at 2:30 p.m.  He returned two hours later to find a window smashed and his cash, a Ceriello jacket and a Klein electrical tester taken, according to a police report.

$1 Shoplifting Arrest

A 43-year-old man was arrested and charged with sealing a muffin from a Franklin Avenue fast food restaurant. The man allegedly took the $1 dessert at McKings Fried Chicken at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Lincoln Place place at 8:27 p.m. on April 9, according to a police report.

 

4 Nabbed in Pot Bust

Four men were arrested after a police saw them smoking marijuana at the corner of Classon Avenue and Pacific Street. Police later discovered that one of the men had an open bench warrant, and another  had an illegal gravity knife on him. The arrests took place on April 10 at 1:20 p.m., according to a police report.

 

iPhone Theft

A woman reported that her iPhone was stolen while she was at Sepia Bar, 234 Underhill Ave., sometime during the evening on Tuesday, April 9.

 

3 Arrested in Stolen Property Case

Three men were arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen objects after police searched an auto parts store on Bergen Street between Washington and Grand avenues and found two laptop bags, and a backpack that were allegedly stolen. The arrests took place on April 13 at noon.

 

$200 Nursing Home Theft

An 83-year-old woman reported that someone stole $200 from her wallet that was in her room at a rehabilitation center. The theft took place between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. on April 7 at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, 727 Classon Ave., according to a police report.

 

Franklin Avenue Pot Arrest

A 20-year-old man was arrested after a cop saw him smoking marijuana at the corner of Dean Street and Franklin Avenue April 11 at 9 p.m.
