Livery Cab Driver Punches Customer Over Fare Dispute

A 38-year-old man said that a livery cab driver quoted him one fare, but then increased it after they arrived at their destination. When the man protested, the driver punched him in the face and then threatened him with an aluminum baseball bat, according to a police report.

The incident took place on Flatbush Avenue at the corner of Sixth Avenue on August 30 at 9:40 a.m.

 

Couple Sees Thief Inside Their Apartment

A Park Place couple spotted a thief mid-burglary, through the window while coming home from the store and a suspect was arrested minutes later.

The couple was on their way back to the apartment at about 8:45 p.m. on August 31 when they saw their apartment light turned on and a teenager walk past the window wearing a black hat and black t-shirt, according to a police report.

They walked into the building, which is located between Classon and Franklin avenues and heard people running up to the fourth floor. As the police were interviewing the couple, they saw a teen they thought they had seen through the window walking in front the building. The cops detained him and found a black hat and a piece of jewelry in the building hallway near the couple’s apartment. The 15-year-old said the property was his but denied he was in the apartment and was arrested at 9:31 p.m., the report said.

 

More Bike Thefts

Three bicycles were reported stolen between August 27 and Sept. 7:

- A 49-year-old man said his $700 trek bike was stolen between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 7 while it was locked at the on Park Place at Vanderbilt Avenue.

- A 42-year old woman reported that someone stole her $660 Gary Fisher mountain bike, which was locked to a parking meter on the corner of Flatbush Avenue and Sixth Avenue in broad daylight between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on August 29.  

- A 61-year-old woman reported that someone stole her bicycle, worth $100,  from where it was parked on Park Place near Vanderbilt between 9 a.m. on August 27 and noon on August 28. The report did not indicate whether the bike was locked.
