Eastern Parkway Bus Accident Sends 12 to Hospital

One person sustained a 'moderate' injury, the rest were minor in crash at Washington Avenue.

A school bus carrying adults with special needs collided with a car at the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Washington Avenue yesterday afternoon, sending 12 people to the hospital, officials said.

One person sustained a moderate injury and 11 others suffered minor injuries in the crash, which took place just before 12:37 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

The patients were sent to Kings County and Methodist hospitals. The spokesman could not provide additional details on the injuries.

Washington Avenue is one of the most dangerous streets in the city,, with at least 130 people injured in car and bike accidents on the strip between 2005 and 2009. 

In March,  at the same corner, Eastern Parkway and Washington Avenue, in a three-car accident that included a police car.
