Alternate Side Vacation, Free Jazz, Open Mic, Kids Events, More

Prospect Heights-area information and events you won't want to miss.

1. You need to know if your train is running, and if you have to move your car. There are no planned subway service changes affecting Prospect Heights today (after 5 a.m.) according to the MTA. Alternate side is blessedly suspended through April 26 thanks to Passover, Good Friday and Easter, according to the NYC DOT.

2.You need bebop. Head to , 837 Union St., at Seventh Avenue for 's eclectic bebop and jazz. 9 p.m. No cover.

3. You need lunch. , of dinner fame, is now serving lunch from noon to 3 weekdays. The spare lunch menu changes weekly. This week: their burger and fries, the green goddess salad, caesar salad and arugula salad. For dessert they have cheesecake. Note that they're also open as a cafe with coffee bar and baked goods from 7 to 3. 755 Dean St. at Underhill (use Underhill entrance).

4. You need to sing! Head to Brooklyn Lyceum for . Get there by 6:30 p.m. to sign up. Show starts at 7 p.m.  , 227 4th Ave. at President Street. No cover.

5. You need to get the kids out of the house. Head to the Brooklyn Children's Museum for  where they can meet some real chickens and learn what it's like to raise animails in New York City, turn recycables into crafts , create a special cherry blossom painting and more.  9:30 a.m. - 5:15 p.m., ages vary by event, Free with admission of $7.50 per person over 12 months.
