5 Things: CB8 Meeting and Gowanus Nite Market

Prospect Heights-area information and events you won't want to miss

1. Get involved with your community. Tonight is the monthly Community Board 8 Meeting where the DOT will be asking for feedback on its Wayfinding sign program and you get to hear about all those new bars and restaurants coming to the neighborhood. Also, this month it's right on Classon Avenue. St Teresa of Avila Parish, 563 Sterling Place bet. Classon and Franklin, 7 p.m.

2. Find your soul. Or at least listen to some. Head to The Way Station for Brandi & the Alexanders. 683 Washington Ave. bet. St. Marks and Bergen. 9 p.m. No cover.

3. Get trivial. Head to Thirsty Thursday Trivia with Mona Mour at Branded Saloon, 603 Vanderbilt Ave. at Bergen. 8 p.m. Free.

4. Shop, dance and eat at night. Prefer shopping (and dancing!) in the dark? The Gowanus Nite Market returns this weekend with a slew of indie vendors, food, DJs and other fabulous treats. It's a bit of a schlep, but from what we've heard, worth it. 540 President St., 7p.m. to midnight.

5. Move the car. Sadly, alternate side parking rules are in effect today. The next suspension isn't until Monday, Jan. 21 for MLK Day, according to the NYCDOT
