Prospect Heights Bar Owner Wins Small Business Award

Honor comes from NYC's Department of Small Business Services.

Delissa Reyonlds, owner of Bar Sepia on Underhill Avenue, has been given the 2013 Small Business of the Year Award for Brooklyn from the city's department of Department of Small Business Services.

Reynolds was one of 15 recipients of the annual Neighborhood Achievement Awards. Officials from SBS praised Reynolds as a pioneer who helped revitalize Underhill between Eastern Parkway and St. Johns Place by opening the bar there in 2004, when the block was filled with empty storefronts.

"Our goal is to be a hub of the neighborhood where all are welcome and use our powers for good toward community initiatives that strengthen the fabric of our neighborhood, encourage small business and, hopefully, mentor those of all ages who wish to start their own business," Reynolds said at the awards ceremony.
