Humans and sea lions alike danced the afternoon away last week at ", the kickoff event of Jazz: Brooklyn’s Beat, a month-long jazz series with six performances taking place at the , ,, , Prospect Park and, of course, the .
The event was started in 2007 by , a partnership of the six cultural institutions listed above, and the radio station WBGO, said Essie Lasch, Heart of Brooklyn’s spokeswoman. The dance school Samba New York! led the dancing.
Today the festival continues with from 2:00pm–5:00pm at the .
