5 Things: Richard Russo at BAM and A Child Grows Baby Expo

Events you won't want to miss, plus the daily alternate side info.

1. Get that kid's room done already.
Whether are expecting a baby, have a newborn, or are running after your toddler, check out the Brooklyn Baby Expo on Sunday. The daylong event hosted, by the website A Child Grows in Brooklyn, includes seminars, hands-on activities and the opportunity to learn about and shop for everything from gear, clothing and furniture, to child care services and organic baby food. Plus, there's free childcare and lunch. Tickets start at $15.

2. Get jazzed. Tonight, don't miss Fredrix LiveEnDirect Afro-Caribbean Jazz Guitar at La Caye! Musician Frederick Clarke, AKA Fredrix LiveEnDirect, will serenade you while you eat with original Afro-Cuban jazz, reggae and his own genre called “REBELJAZZ.” La Caye Restaurant & Bar, 35 Lafayette Avenue across from BAM (Between Ashland and St. Felix), 6 p.m. Call for reservations: 718.858.4160.   

3. Meet some good folks.
 Head over The Way Station and listen to Bryan Cahall, Glaser Drive and Kelli Scarr play some folk, rock and soul tonight. Fans of Jeff Buckley, Patti Smith, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, CSNY, Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie are in for a treat! The Way Station, 683 Washington Ave, 8 p.m.

4. Eat, Drink & Be Literary! 
Stop by Brooklyn Academy of Music to hear Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo read from his new memoir “Elsewhere.” National Book Foundation’s Harold Augenbraum will moderate the event while Russo will read and discuss his newest book.

5.Move your car.
 The DOT’s alternate side parking rules are in effect today.
