Monday, May 14 

 Each week Annie Nieves will lead the group in an art project that promotes creativity and experimentation. The class also includes some independent play and concludes with music and a sing-a-long. Toddler Time This weekly event allows toddlers 18 to 36 months to enjoy stories, rhymes and songs. Space is limited. Pick up a ticket at the library the morning of the program. , 10 Grand Army Plaza, 10:15 or 11 a.m. Free.

Saturday, May 19 

 This annual celebration of the cultural vitality of Africa and its disapora begins with the Council of Elders performing libation ceremonies to honor those who have passed on to the ancestral grounds, followed by Afro-Cuban and Haitian dance, drumming and more. Weeksville Heritage Center, 1698 Bergen St., 10 a.m. Free. 

 Volunteers will gear up with brooms, shovels, rakes and trash grabbers to tackle a major cleanup effort. Meet us at the Bandshell for this major spring cleaning event. , Prospect Park W & 9th St, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free. 

Story Play Kids get the chance to play with toys and hear stories. Ages 0 to 5. , 10 Grand Army Plaza, 10-11 a.m. Free.

 Watch the sheep get their annual haircuts, and learn felt-making, weaving, and spinning techniques. Musical guests will also perform. , 450 Flatbush Ave., 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free with zoo admission of $8 adults, $5 kids 3-12.

 Free classes and performances for kids and adults including Hip Hop, Jazz and Indian Dance (schedule at link). 45 4th Ave. at Dean Street 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free, but you must reserve a class in advance at RSVP@dancewave.org.

Greenlight Kids Story Time , will read from her book and lead a craft project. Ages 3-7. , 686 Fulton St. (at S Portland St), 11 a.m., Free. 

 Children become naturalists as they explore plant and animal life cycles and experience the springtime world through fun, hands-on activities, scavenger hunts, and story time. Workshops also on May 13, 19, 20 and June 2 and 3 (Sundays are 1-3 p.m.). , 1000 Washington Ave, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Free with garden admission of $10 adults, kids under 12 are free. 

An art-themed block party in Crown Heights for children and families with live music and food, plus several different arts and crafts opportunities for kids as part of Arts to End Violence festival week, an initiative of Save Our Streets Crown Heights. Kingston Avenue between Bergen and Dean streets, 1-5pm, Free. Rain date is June 7th, on Park Place outside Brower Park.

Lefferts House Events Today this historic house is hosting part of , where kids can watch sheared wool become yarn. Lefferts Historic House at Prospect Park (Use entrance at Empire Boulevard and Flatbush and Ocean Avenues), Free.

 Make all-natural and recycled crafts with a new project each week. The Audubon Center at the Boathouse (just inside the Lincoln Road/Ocean Ave. entrance to Prospect Park). 1-2 p.m., all ages, Free.
