It's been more than two months since the hurricane-turned-superstorm hit, and most of the city has returned to normal. But in areas hit by Sandy, suffering is still acute.
Here is a list of how to help, which we will continue to keep as current as possible.

Volunteering:
Grace Church often organizes work trips to the Rockaways and other hard-hit areas to assist residents to clear out their homes and basements devastated by Hurricane Sandy. E-mail johnmusco@gmail.com to find out about upcoming trips. Let them know if you have a car.
Occupy Sandy This group has a large and well-organized volunteer operation. Sign up to be a volunteer at the main page and then get trained at either their Clinton Hill or Sunset Park locations.

Item/Food Donations:
AidMatrix Companies or organizations with access to a large volume of items to donate to the disaster relief effort can use this site to match a posted need or make a general offer of supplies.

Cash Donations:
Whether you live 10,000 miles from the Atlantic coast or 10 blocks, money is the most efficient way for you to help. It allows aid organizations to buy exactly what's needed at bulk prices, and to pay for specialized staff.
