5 Things You Need to Know Today: Cherry Blossoms, Charlie Chaplin Shorts, BAM Artist Talk, More

Prospect Heights information and events you won't want to miss.

1. You need to use your brain. Head to BAMCafe for an  as he discusses his new production of "Macbeth" with Columbia professor James Shapiro, author of "Contested Will: Who Wrote Shakespeare?" 6 pm , 30 Lafayette Ave., $15; $7.50 for Friends of BAM.

2. You need to get to the movies ... and the library. Do both at the Central Library's . Today it's four shorts by Charlie Chaplin: "Mabel's Strange Predicament" (1914, 12 minutes), "His Trysting Place" (1914, 21 minutes), "The Rink" (1916, 24 minutes), and "The Vagabond" (1916, 26 minutes). ,  1:30pm. Free.

3. You need  to get the kids out of the house. It's going to be a gorgeous day, so you could visit at the Prospect Park Zoo, or try out the at the park, which opened this weekend. But if you want something indoors, there's also  from 2-3 p.m. at the Central Library. Or s.

4. You need to see the Cherry Blossoms. Viewing season began this weekend. Only a few trees are currently blooming, but the best way to experience Hanami is to visit the gardens several times throughout the monthlong season. There's a free tour at 1 p.m. that includes other garden highlights as well. 

5. You need to know if your train is running or if you have to move your car before tomorrow. The 2/3/4/5 lines are running fine through Prospect Heights all weekend, but late-night Q issues continue. From 12:15 a.m. tonight  to 5 a.m. Monday, there are no Q trains north of Atlantic Avenue. At Atlantic change for the N to continue to Manhattan. Brooklyn-bound trains it's the same in reverse, take the N to Atlantic and change for the Q, according to theMTA. For drivers, there's no alternate side suspension until Passover on April 19 and 20, according to the NYC DOT.
