5 Things: Watercolor For Kids, Pick-Up Softball and Open Mic

Prospect Heights-area subway, alternate side and event information you won't want to miss.

 

1. You need softball! Head to Mount Prospect Park , a weekly pick-up game for all ages. Bring a glove if you have one. Eastern Parkway between the Central Library and the Botanic Garden. 1 p.m. Free. 

2. You need to sing! Or dance, or recite your poetry, or play your instrument. Whatever your talent, the Tea Lounge welcomes you at its . , 837 Union St. at Seventh Ave. No Cover. 9-11 p.m.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. Head to the New York Transit Museum for See Art Make Art! where kids can see artist Antonio Masi’s paintings and then watch Masi demonstrate his unique watercolor technique and discuss about why our city’s bridges so capture his imagination. Afterwards kids will have the chance to paint a bridge of their own. For ages 6+. 1:30 p.m. New York Transit Museum, Corner of Boerum Pl & Schermerhorn St, 1:30 p.m., Free with museum admission (adults $7, kids 2-17 and seniors $5). See our  for more options. 

4. You need to know if your train is running ... It is! There are no planned service changes affecting Prospect Heights stations all weekend, according to the MTA.

5. ... And if you have to move your car. You do; the next alternate side suspension won't be until Wednesday, July 4, according to the NYCDOT. (The next alternate side suspension that actually helps people in Prospect Heights won't be until Monday, August 20 for Idul-Fitr.)
