5 Things: Atlantic Yards Rally and Prospect Park Carousel's 100th Anniversary Party

Prospect Heights-area subway, alternate side and event information you won't want to miss.

 

1. You need to protest what's been going on at Atlantic Yards. If you believe the community has been gyped, head to the , where church groups have teamed up with the usual suspects to pressure Gov. Cuomo to make sure Forest City Ratner delivers on its promises of jobs and affordible housing. Atlantic Ave. and S. Portland Ave., 3 p.m.

2. You need to meet the neighbors. If you live near Carlton Avenue (or even if you don't), head to the 10th annual . There will be a barbecue and bake sale, a block association stoop sale (donations of good quality books, dishes, kitchenware, curios and toys welcome), kids games and activities a plant sale and a worm composting demonstration. Noon to 6 p.m. Carlton between Bergen and St. Marks.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. Head to Prospect Park for the Carousel's 100th Birthday Celebration. Help the horses celebrate their 100th birthday with free carousel rides, cake and crafts and games. Enter Prospect Park at the Willink entrance, located at Ocean and Flatbush Avenues and Empire Boulevard. 12-5 p.m. Free. See our  for more options. 

4. You need to know if your train is running ... It is! There are no planned service changes affecting Prospect Heights stations, according to the MTA.

5. ... And if you have to move your car. Not today, of course, but the next alternate side suspension won't be until Wednesday, July 4, according to the NYCDOT
