5 Things: Oumou Sangare at Celebrate Brooklyn, Karaoke Killed the Cat, Chess for Teens and Adults, More

Prospect Heights-area information and events you won't want to miss.

1. You need Celebrate Brooklyn! Head to the Prospect Park Bandshell for . 7:30pm (but get there early). Prospect Park West and 9th Street. $3 donation requested.

2. Your voice needs a night out. How about  at Union Hall? Billed as a "karaoke dance party for people who never thought they'd like karaoke" Karaoke Killed the Cat is part dancing, part singing. 702 Union St. at Fifth Avenue. Free.

3. You (and your teen) need chess. Head to the Central Library where there are separate groups for chess for  and for  beginning at 4 p.m.  Teens meet in the  Youth Wing's Teen Reading Room from 4-5 p.m. Aduts met in the Art/Music Divison on the 3rd Floor from 4 to 5:45 p.m. Free.

4. You need to get the kids out of the house. Take them to ! Every friday this summer, Brooklyn Children's Museum has free admission. This week, the Brooklyn Arabic Music Trio performs., 6:30 p.m., Free. Or, see our  for the week. 

5. You need to know if your train is running, and if you have to move your car. There are no service changes affecting Prospect Heights today, according to the MTA. As for moving your car, alternate side is not suspended again until the Feast of the Assumption on Monday, August 15, according to the NYC DOT.
