Where to Get Valentine's Day Flowers in and Around Prospect Heights

Here are your best bets nearby to get your honey the bouquet of his or her dreams.

If you're thinking of ordering flowers for your loved ones for Valentine's Day, you should order in advance to make sure you get an early delivery time. Here are some good choices in and around Prospect Heights:

 71 6th Ave. at Bergen, 718-623-6443

Petite Fleur is a tasteful full service florist that also features a nice collection of French furnishings and antiques. The appealing arrangements of flowers, objects and gifts makes visiting a pleasure.

Kat Flower at 606 R&D 606 Vanderbilt Ave, bet. Prospect and St. Marks

Prospect Heights resident and floral designer Kathleen Hyppolite will be selling her hand-tied bouquets out of the newly opened on Valentine's Day between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (or whenever she runs out). Bouquets cost between $30 and $50. You can pre-order them by e-mailing kathleen@katflower.com until 2 p.m. Monday or simply stop by 606 on the day.

,  533 Park Place at Classon, 718-789-8889

Really, despite the name, this florist/gift store/skateboard shop is a fantastic flower shop. They also have such treats as hand-made cards, Liddabit candy bars and Dough & Batter heart butter cookies. They deliver, and will be open 9am-8pm on V-Day.

, 158 7th Ave. between Garfield and 1st, 718-768-9207

They've been around for 33 years and know what they're doing. They also sell orchids and small fountains and a few other gifts.

Barbara's Flower Shop 615 Nostrand Ave. at Bergen, 718-773-6644

This old-fashioned spot has been a flower shop since 1903 (and has been called Barbara's since 1972). They're only open until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturdays, so call today if you plan to order.

DNY Natural Land, 322 Flatbush Ave. between Park and Sterling, 718-783-0038

This won't work for delivery, but if you're planning to pick-up, this grocery store is a good choice. They have an excellent flower selection, which they massively expand for Valentine's Day. We've been buying flowers there for more than a decade and have always found them to be high quality and fresh. Plus, they're right outside the 7th Avenue Q station, the flowers are reasonably priced, and they're open 24 hours.
