Confirmed: Franny's Moving to Former Blockbuster on Flatbush

the wildly popular artisanal pizza spot on Flatbush Avenue will be moving into larger digs up the street in the fall.

The owners informed staff members a few days ago that the restaurant will relocate to the former site of Blockbusters, at 348 Flatbush Ave. between Sterling Place and Eighth Avenue, a source with information of the move confirmed this morning.

Owners Francine Stephens and Andrew Feinberg plan to turn the current site at 295 Flatbush Ave. into another Italian restaurant in the spring of 2013.

"They're really excited at the prospect of having more space at (the new) Franny's," the source said. "And to be able to seat people without a long wait."

Is delivery in store? One can only hope.  

The Prospect Heights/Park Slope icon is known for its local, sustainable, seasonal menu, knowledgeable, helpful staff and , not to mention its clam, chile and parsley pie.  

It's consistently on the "best of lists," landing the city's , and as the on New York Magazine’s  “101 Best Restaurants in New York” guide (and the only Prospect Heights/Park Slope restaurant to make the list).

The possibility of the move was reported on Eater yesterday afternoon.

In September, Here's Park Slope reported that Michael Pintchik, owner of 348 Flatbush, said "a great restaurant" that "everyone's familiar with" would be moving into the space. Whether he meant Franny's at the time, or had another tenant in mind is not clear.
