Now You Know: Seventh Ave Station's Staircase To Nowhere

A while back, a reader asked what the original purpose was of that blocked off staircase at the Seventh Avenue station on the B/Q line.

Did it lead to a connection to the 2/3 line, perhaps?

We asked the MTA and the answer is a bit more prosaic. It was a crossover to the opposite platform, which was also used for straphangers to view the tracks from above.

So far, we have not been able to find out when the bridge was closed off or why (though we could guess It has to do with safety). If we do find out for sure, you will be the first to know.
