Woman Bruised, Dragged During Purse Snatch

A pair of thugs left a 28-year-old covered with scrapes and black and blue marks after they dragged her along Underhill Avenue while trying to steal her purse, according to a police report.

The woman was at the corner of Pacific and Underhill just before midnight on Wednesday, June 17, when two men came up to her and asked her for directions.

As she was giving them the information one of them grabbed her bag. Whether she was trying to hang onto it or just couldn't disengage in time, the men pulled her to the ground and dragged her, causing cuts and bruises to all her arms and legs, according to the report.

When the men finally got the handbag away and began to run off, the woman chased them, first down Underhill and then on Dean Street toward Washington Avenue. A witness saw the victim run, called 911, and then joined, unsuccessfully, in the pursuit, the victim reported.

In addition to her injuries, the woman lost $445 worth of goods including the purse, wallet and cash. The report did not indicate whether she received medical attention.
