Police Blotter: Man Flees Cops on Foot After Accident

Plus an $800 bike theft and a thief hits the jackpot during a car break-in.

Man Flees on Foot After Car Accident

A driver crashed into a car at the corner of Washington Avenue and Prospect Place and then abandoned his car and fled when the police pulled him over.

According to the 42-year-old victim, the driver hit the side of his car near the back door at about 1:30 p.m. on April 10. The driver sped off but cops caught up with him on St. Marks Avenue between Grand and Classon. At that point the man jumped out of the car and managed to get away on foot, police said.


$800 Bike Theft

A sharp-eyed thief made off with a $800 bike that was locked to a pole overnight. The 23-year-old victim told cops the grey, white and yellow Trek was taken from Prospect Place between Classon and Franklin avenues between April 10 and April 11   .


Car Break-in Jackpot

Someone broke a window in a car and stole $2,415 worth of property including a pricy belt drive, Nike Vapor soccer cleats, Nike running shoes, a bike helmet and a bike pump. The theft took place on Sterling Place between Classon and Franklin avenues on April 10.
