Prospect Heights Seeks Relief From the Heat

Some hit the sprinklers, others invented new forms of head wear, and some brought in reinforcements.

As the heat wave continues for a third day, not everyone is hiding out inside. Here are some brave souls who have prayed the heat, and what they're doing to try to stay cool.

Neil Boodra, a mail carrier for the past 6 1/2 years, has several techniques to get through a heat wave. He tries to keep in the shade, walk slowly, and drinks a bottle of water just about every block, he said.

The tropical headwear, by the way, is legit. It is an official USPS "mesh sun hat."

But although Boodra has his coping methods down, that doesn't mean he relishes walking for hours at a time in the searing heat.

"I wouldn't recommend this for anyone," he said.
