New Holistic Healing Coop Inspired from Tragedy

Mother opens center in honor of late son.

After Heidi McClure lost her son Mhadi during a hike, the mother turned the tragedy into an opportunity to honor her son.

Thus, the Spirit Freedom Mhaditation Cooperative was born. Celebrating its grand opening at 603 Bergen St. in Prospect Heights on Oct. 19, the coop was also inspired by the Park Slope Food Coop.

At the center, customers can become members, be a part of decisions and do work exchange for reduced prices for services.

Mhadi was a massage therapist who planned to eventually create this
business with his mother.

“His Spirit lives on with us and we are still doing this business together," McClure said in a release.

The center offers dance, music and theater therapy, massage and nutritional therapy and more. Click here for more on the Spirit Freedom Mhaditation Coop.
