Daniel Cordaro was born in San Salvador, El Salvador in 1982. At the age of 10 months, he was adopted and brought to live in the United States. He grew up in up-state NY in a small town called Ontario. His mother and father and older brother still live up-state whereas Daniel made the move to NYC. To rewind a little, he spent a year abroad as an exchange student in Quito, Ecuador during his junior year of high school. It was during this year that he knew that he wanted to share his experience with everyone!

He soon found himself at SUNY Cortland with a bachelors degree in Secondary Education and concentration in Spanish. His four years at SUNY Cortland truly helped to prepare and guide him into the teaching profession. Following his four years at Cortland, he was gifted with an amazing five years teaching Spanish at MS 584 Granville T. Woods in Crown Heights Brooklyn. During the last three years at MS 584, he completed his masters at City College with a degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages) Upon graduating from City College in the Spring of 2010 his path moved him to K499 ACORN Community High school in Prospect Heights Brooklyn where he currently teaches Spanish and ESL. (English as a Second Language) This is now his second year at ACORN and he has been again blessed with the space to grow in his craft both inside and outside of the classroom.

He is proud to say that this year he was given great news with the opportunity to start up a soccer team at ACORN, playing with the NYIS (New York Independent Soccer League) and within just this past year the team finished the fall season in 3rd place and Spring season in 1st. Both Daniel and coach Gena Miller (A Social Studies Teacher at ACORN) are extremely proud of the hardwork and dedication of the team and look forward to defending the crown this coming Fall. To follow the team you can visit the NYISL website at www.nyisl.com.

Daniel's plans for the future are to continue his teaching and coaching at ACORN and to take every opportunity to travel the globe continuing to grow, learn and teach!
