I think there needs to be improved streetscapes immediately surrounding the Barclay Center if weRead More want arenagoers to venture out into the nabe. Right now, it is hard from the front plaza of the Barclay's Center to have any real sense that there are pleasant vibrant neighborhoods just nearby. Try looking down any of the streets extending out from the stadium at night and there are dead and dodgy views in all directions. I keep hoping that improvements on Flatbush and the further development of Atlantic will eventually change that... Bike share could draw more people through our streets too...

No kidding. As many members of this neighborhood pointed out before the stadium was built,Read More historically there is very little added to the community around these arenas. Look at practically any economics study of any stadium or arena. The public gets lies and bubkis. How long before Rattner and Jay-Z ask for a public subsidy to repair that degrading metal around the outside that is already staining the sidewalk with brown drippings? 10 years? $50 million?
