Fluffy and Chamomile (Plus Rockaway Baby Finds a Home)

Chamomile was removed from a horder's house, while Fluffy was saved from a Manhattan shelter.

Fluffy, an unusually large Shih Tzu mix, found himself at a Manhattan animal shelter after being abandoned by his former owner.

The owner gave the 5-year-old fuzz ball up because his new landlord wouldn’t allow dogs. After the Manhattan shelter couldn’t keep him any longer, he landed at Sean Casey Animal Rescue, a no-kill shelter in Brooklyn.

Despite his abandonment, Fluffy isn’t ready to give up on love.

“He’s sweet and mellow,” said Theresa Labianca, the shelter’s director of administration.

Chamomile, a 5-year-old, grey and white kitty, came to the shelter after being taken out of a hoarder’s house.

“She’s a sweet little mush-pot,” said Labianca. “She’ll just kind of mush into your hand when you pet her.”

Meanwhile has found a home. A “nice young couple” with a 4-year-old daughter adopted her last month, said Sean Casey, the shelter’s founder. They’ve been in a few times since to visit and so far everything’s working out.

Both Chamomile and Fluffy are spayed, dewormed, treated to prevent fleas & ticks and are up to date with vaccinations. The adoption fee, $100 for cats and $200 for dogs, includes a veterinary exam, one free month of pet health insurance and a microchip.
