Truly, a Work of Art!

The story of the original teddy bear, hand-sewn by Rose Michtom and sold as Teddy's bear at her husband Morris's New York novelty and stationary store, is now legendary. This statement is on page 38 of The Teddy bear Encyclopedia by Pauline Cockrill, printed in 2001. She also says,( early Ideal bears were not labeled. They can be identified only by their general shape and by certain design details.)  She is so right and this is how I first realized that my old bear was an Ideal bear. His body parts matched so close to the Smithsonian bear, not the face, just the body. I also have concluded that my old bear is older than the Smithsonian bear. My bear does not have the straight seem, up his belly like all the rest of old bears. This straight seem is a closing seem from manufactured bears. As in mass production! My old bear has his closing seem done by hand, overlapping of the material. To hide the closing seem. Now the face of my old bear doesn't exist. In my research I have not found a face on any old bear like mine! You can see for yourself the details Rose Michtom put into this first style bear. Now remember her first style Teddy's were made in honor of then President Theodore Roosevelt. So she went into great detail for this product for her first bears. She just didn't know the teddy bear would take off like  history shows. See the details inside the bears mouth. This old bear has survived 110 years now, all in original condition. To me, this bear is a miracle it has survived. Also, Please see my face book page by Robert Csech and my Pinterest page, the oldest bear. The details on my old bears, from his feet to the top of his head, to me he is a work of art. Like no other! He belongs in a great museum! For the world to see. He was made in America! He has stood through the test of time and came out smiling!
