Drum-Along with Ivan The name says it all ... Play Kids, 676 Flatbush Ave., bet. Hawthorne and Winthrop. 10 a.m., $5/family.

 Calling all city kids and their grown-ups! Learn about New York City garden plants and animals through hands-on exploration, story time, and garden hunts. Each week, young urban gardeners will explore a different nature theme and then create their own windowsill planting or nature craft to green up their home or neighborhood. Story Play with First RIF Kids ages 0-5 play with toys and hear stories, earning free board books along the way. , 25 4th Ave. at Pacific St. 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Free.

Sea Lion Feeding This daily event features the Prospect Park Zoo sea lions showing off their dives, catching fish mid-air and other tricks. , 450 Flatbush Avenue, 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., Free with zoo admission of $8 adults, $5 kids 3-12.

Brooklyn Children's Museum Events The cheerful museum has events for kids all day. See their schedule here. 145 Brooklyn Ave. bet. St. Marks and Prospect. Free with admission of $7.50 for everyone 1 year and older.  

 

Wednesday, August 15

Weekly Events:

Sing-Along at Tea Lounge Yellow Sneaker leads a weekly sing-along with puppets. 837 Union St. at Seventh Avenue. 10 a.m. $5 per family.

Board Games Play classic board games and meet new people. , 25 4th Ave. at Pacific St. 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Free.

 Drop-in weekly story times with music, stories, puppets and more for ages 0-5. Birth Day Presence Studio, 182 Eighth Ave., bet. Garfield and First Street. 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. $5 per family.

Mini Keyboard with Leslie A beginning keyboard class for kids 1-4 years old that teaches notes and keys through symbols and colors. Play Kids, 676 Flatbush Ave., bet. Hawthorne and Winthrop. 3:30 p.m., $5/child.

 This weekly drop-off class is open to beginners, newcomers, and enrolled students ages 5-12. , 524 Bergen St. bet. Carlton and Sixth, 5-6 p.m. free.

Special Events:

 In August the carousel is free on Thursdays! Open Thursdays through Sundays, 12 to 6 p.m. Enter Prospect Park at the Willink entrance, located at Ocean and Flatbush Avenues and Empire Boulevard.

Transit Tots Stories, games and more. Ages 2-5. New York Transit Museum, Corner of Boerum Pl & Schermerhorn St, 11 a.m., Free with museum admission (adults $7, kids 2-17 and seniors $5).

Wash Ave Rocks The third annual street fair includes tons of events for kids including a water slide, face-painting, raffle prizes, a fashion show "celebrating the decades" and arts and crafts. See the full schedule of the Washington Avenue street fair. Washington Avenue between Atlantic and Eastern Parkway, 12-6 p.m. Free.

Final Weekend: Puppetworks' The Jungle Book Rudyard Kipling's 1894 fables of India with an original song score adapted for Marionettes. Greenlight Kids Story Time During July and August, Greenlight is taking a summer hiatus from hosting children's book authors. However, there will still be stories in the kids section every Saturday morning—courtesy of their book-loving, kid-friendly staff! For ages 3 to 8.  Greenlight Bookstore, 686 Fulton St. (at S Portland St), 11 a.m., Free.  

Crafts at Habana Outpost Creative crafts and workshops that teach kids about environmentalism and community. 757 Fulton St. at S. Portland Avenue, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Free.

 This free program offers kids fishing instruction and an introduction to aquatic ecology. Children 15 and under will learn about recreational fishing, fishing safety, and fish-friendly techniques, all while casting their lines on a spectacular summer day in the Park. See our  for more information. Kids must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call (718) 287-3400 x303 for details. 1 p.m. or 3 pm. Meet at the Audubon Center, Lincoln Rd & Ocean Ave., Free. 

 Gather around Peter and Willy, the statue of two beloved Keats characters, for storytelling adventures. Meet at the Imagination Playground (Lincoln Road entrace at Ocean Avenue). 2 p.m. Free.

Lefferts House Events Today the historic house is hosting Race Around the Farmyard, where the whole family can participate in potato sack races, stilts and other old-fashioned games (3:30 to 4:30 p.m.) Lefferts Historic House at Prospect Park (Use entrance at Empire Boulevard and Flatbush and Ocean Avenues), Kids free, $3 suggested for adults.

  Did you know that the electricity needed to power our subway may one day come from engines in the East River? Kids will learn about turbines through a demo and then they will have the chance to make their own. For ages 4+ 1:30 p.m. New York Transit Museum, Corner of Boerum Pl & Schermerhorn St, 1:30 p.m., Free with museum admission (adults $7, kids 2-17 and seniors $5).

Prospect Park Discover Tour Find out how to use binoculars to spot some of the incredible species of birds that call Prospect Park home. Learn the history of the Boathouse and see little-known curiosities about the Park and its animal residents. Meet at The Audubon Center at the Boathouse (just inside the Lincoln Road/Ocean Ave. entrance to Prospect Park). For adults and older kids. 3-4 p.m. Free.

Prospect Park Zoo Events On Saturdays and Sundays, there are events for kids going on all day including sea lion feedings, keeper chats, close-up encounters with individual animals and more. See today's schedule here. , 450 Flatbush Avenue. Free with zoo admission of $8 adults, $5 kids 3-12.
