Prospect Heights Campus Sees Mixed Results on Progress Reports

Two of the four small high schools received an "A" while one received a "B" and another a "C."

The New York City Department of Education handed out letter grades to schools across New York City last week, including to the four small high schools that make up Prospect Heights Campus: The Brooklyn Academy of Science and the Environment; Brooklyn School for Music and Theatre; High School for Global Citizenship; and the International High School at Prospect Heights.

The four schools, which each have different focuses and specialties, received a variety of different scores.

The Brooklyn Academy of Science and the Environment, which works closely with Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, scored very well. It received an "A" in the "School Environment" and "Student Performance" categories as well as its overall score. It received a "B" on Student Progress.

B.A.S.E. Letter Grade Score School Environment A 11.3/15 Student Performance A 17.7/25 Student Progress B 36.7/60

The Brooklyn School for Music and Theatre received a similarly high score. It received an "A" in both "Student Performance" and on its overall score, while earning a "B" in the other two categories.

Music and Theatre Letter Grade Score School Environment B 9.1/15 Student Performance A 22.4/25 Student Progress B 41.3/60

The International High School at Prospect Heights received a slightly overall score, "B," than its sister schools. It performed well in the "School Environment" category, but the school's score was dragged down by its poor showing in the "Student Performance" category.

International High School Letter Grade Score School Environment A 13/15 Student Performance D 11.2/25 Student Progress B 41/60

The High School for Global Citizenship scored the poorest of the four high schools that share Prospect Heights Campus. It received a "C" on its overall score, dragged down by poor showings in both the "School Environment" and "Student Progress" categories.
