Bringing Relief After Hurricane Sandy

Chabad Jewish Center brings food, warm towels and lots of love to area shelters.

The northeast has been devastated by a powerful hurricane that has impacted millions of Americans. We each carry an individual responsibility to stand in the breach and help those in need during this crucial and challenging time.

A group of us from Chabad's Jewish outreach activities in Prospect Heights & Fort Greene in Brooklyn, spent the evening with local teens and little Menny, canvassing and visiting local high schools gymnasiums converted into impromptu shelters, and armories into medical facilities offering Hurricane Relief and humanitarian aid.

From Clara Barton H.S. in Crown Heights, to the YMCA Park Slope Armory and John Jay H.S., to Brooklyn Tech in Fort Greene, fresh salads, warm towels and lots of hugs and love were on full display and distributed to the many volunteers, first responders and families some of whom have either lost their homes or whose lives have been completely and suddenly disrupted.
