Weekend Shuttle Bus Misery Over for Q Train Riders

MTA cancels final weekend of service interruptions at Seventh Avenue.

For all of us who suffered through President's Day without the Q Train, the payoff comes tomorrow.

Feb. 25-26 was supposed to the final shuttle-bus weekend. But the MTA announced yesterday that the Q train would be running shuttle-bus free for the foreseeable future.

However, this doesn't mean the Q train will be running normally. This weekend it run from Stillwell/Coney Island to Dekalb, then run along the R line through the tunnel and end at Whitehall Street. However, considering riders can switch for the N or R at Dekalb (yes, the N will be stopping at Dekalb all weekend), it’s a vast improvement, according to the MTA.

The bad news is the late night misery will continue where riders are dropped at Pacific Street and forced to drag over to Atlantic to catch a second Q train for the final leg of the trip. This change will take place weeknights from 11:45p.m. to 5 a.m. through at least March 16, according to the MTA.

For those wondering the reason for all the work, it was to solve a drainage problem at Atlantic Avenue. See the full explanation .
