Should Markowitz Be An NYC Ambassador?

Brooklyn Borough President could become NYC's ambassador to the world.

You've had Marty Markowitz as your Brooklyn borough president for more than a decade. Do you want him to hang around as a public figure?

No, he can't stick around in his current job, which was won earlier this month by state Sen. Eric Adams. But two Brooklyn pols want to appoint Markowitz as a goodwill ambassador for New York City, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.

Public Advocate-elect Letitia James and city Councilman David Greenfield say Markowitz would be a great asset to the city as commissioner of the Mayor’s Office for International Affairs.

James and Greenfield reportedly said the position should be renamed the "Ambassador for NYC," and given to Markowitz.

Both said Brooklyn's boisterous Beep would be well suited to the task.

Markowitz might have an inside track on the gig. It's appointed by the mayor, so the guy doing the picking would be another Brooklyn guy: Bill de Blasio.

What do you think? Should Markowitz represent New York City to the world? Let us know in the comments.
