Poll: Should Alternate Side Parking Rules Be Reduced in Prospect and Crown Heights?

Let us know what you think.

Next week, Community Board 8 will hold a hearing on whether alternate side parking should be reduced from four to two times a week in Prospect and Crown Heights.

The option is available because last spring the City Council passed a bill that would allow communities that are deemed litter-free enough to reduce the street cleanings--and Prospect Heights and Crown Heights fit the bill.

But do we want fewer steet cleanings?

Although to car owners it may seem a no brainer, the change means that not only will the streets be cleaned less often, but that the periods when snow removal, tree trimming, infrastructure work done by utility companies and other work that requires a car-free curb will also be cut in half.

The hearing will be held Tuesday, Nov. 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Hope City Empowerment Center, 650 Washington Avenue (near Bergen Street)

At hearing, each person who wishes to speak will be given three minutes, and written testimony will also be accepted.
