L Train Service Restored to Manhattan

All subway service across the East River restored except the R line.

Just in time for the evening commute Thursday, L train service resumed.

The line connecting 14th Street in Manhattan with Williamsburg and other parts of Brooklyn began running again at 3 p.m., the MTA announced.

The resumption of service means that every subway line with Manhattan service has had it restored except for the R line, where water is still being pumped from the tunnel.

In addition, there are still no A trains in the Rockaways or N Trains south of 8th Avenue in South Brooklyn, where there was extensive storm damage. Transit officials do not know how long it will be until those stations are restored, but say crews are working "27/7 to restore service as quickly as possible."
