Hakeem Jeffries Doubles Funds From Last Quarter
Almost half of the contributions are for small amounts, less than $100 for his congressional bid against incumbent Ed Towns.
Prospect Heights Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries has now more than doubled the amount of money raised for his Congress run, as compared to last quarter. As of March 31, Jeffries has raised approximately $237,000 and has about $400,000 cash on hand for his campaign against incumbent Rep. Edolphus “Ed” Towns and Councilman Charles Barron, D-East New York.
According to his team, more than 75 percent of the contributions are from New York City residents, and almost 50 percent of contributions were for $100 or less.
"I'm proud of the amount of support I have received in this campaign and remain confident that we will have the resources necessary to be victorious in June," said Jeffries, in a statement.

In total, Assemblyman Jeffries has raised more than a half a million dollars in connections with his campaign.
According to Towns’ team, the 15-term incumbent by the end of this month, after ballot paperwork is filed.
