Community Board 8 Economic Development Committee

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Plan for community revitalization projects in District 8
  • Advise Community Board membership on commercial and residential proposals being developed
  • Discuss liquor applications--both new and renewals--before the State Liquor Authority for clubs, bars, restaurants, local grocery stores, and other establishments in the District
  • Disseminate information on economic development to community residents
  • Schedule public hearings pertaining to proposed changes in district development

At the April 10 meeting, the following Prospect Heights applications will be considered, according to the Prospect Heights Neighborhood Development Council:

The Prospect Heights applications are below: 1. New liquor license applications:

  • Tooker Alley, 793 Washington Avenue/full license (St. John’s/Lincoln)
  • Gran Castillo, 345 Flatbush Avenue /beer/wine license (Park/Sterling)
  • Leonard Zella, 607 Vanderbilt Avenue/full license (tavern) (Bergen/St. Marks)
  • Milk River Café, 960 Atlantic Avenue/full license (Grand/Classon)


2. Liquor license renewals:

  • B&B Sports Club, 644 Franklin Avenue/full license (Bergen/St. Marks)
  • Happiness Lounge, 1458 St. John’s Place/full license (Utica/Rochester)
  • B Hive Lounge, 990 Atlantic Avenue/full license (Grand/Classon)
  • Tao Palate, 329 Flatbush Avenue/beer/wine license (near Park)
  • Kombit, 279 Flatbush Avenue/full license (corner St. Marks)

   3. Alterations to applications (rear yard use)

  • 606 R& D, 606 Vanderbilt Avenue/full license (St. Marks/Prospect)
  • Bearded Lady, 686A Washington Avenue/full license  (corner St. Marks)

4. Unenclosed Sidewalk Café application for Bearded Lady, 686A Washington Avenue

5. Enclosed Sidewalk Café application for Underhill Café & Grill, 760 Dean Street
