5 Things You Need to Know Today: M.S. 571 Hearing, Alternate Side, Swap Meet and More

Prospect Heights- area information and events you won't want to miss.

1. You need to make your voice heard. The NYC Department of Education is holding on the , the Bergen Upper School. Come and voice your opinion. 6 p.m. 80 Underhill Avenue (). There is also a rally against the plan at 5 p.m. outside the school.

2. You need yoga. There's  at  today. Best of all, it's pay what you want.

3. You need to know if you have to move your car. You don't. Although on Saturday 311 was saying otherwise, yesterday,  the DOT decided to suspend alternate side for today "for snow removal," according to 311

4. You need new stuff ... but you're broke. Come to the at Southpaw, 125 5th Ave., from 3 to 8 p.m. Bring your clothes, housewares, books, electronics and records and swap them for someone else's. All items must be in good condition. All unsold items will go to NY Cares and Housing Works. If you have nothing to trade, you can buy items for a small donation to  these charities.  There will be also be food, drink and music. 

5. You need someplace to take the kids. How about the Prospect Park Zoo? The zoo has plenty of indoor animals including Hamadryan baboons, meerkats, piranhas, poisonous frogs and a pretty big snake. $8 adults, $6 senions, $5 kids 3-12, up to 35 months, free.
