Woman Charged with DWI in Pearl River after Crash

Police: Driver left scene of accident; tire marks and car parts left strewn on lawn.

A Spring Valley woman was charged with drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident late Tuesday after a crash that left tire marks and car parts strewn accross a home's front lawn, according to Orangetown Police.

Police said Kasey M. Dloughy, 21, of 132 S. Main St., Spring Valley, was found in a 2006 Ford Fusion on Robertson Drive in Pearl River, where she was attempting to push a deployed air bag back into the car's steering column. Police said the driver claimed there was "old damage" on her car, but town officers found that damage and missing parts on her car matched what was found nearby at the scene of an accident at Venter Lane and Villa Road in Nanuet.

In addition to tire tracks on a lawn and broken car parts, police found that a tree has been damaged.

An Orangetown police officer on his way to assisted with an investigation of the 11:10 p.m. report of an accident at Venter and Villa heard a car horn sounding on Robertson Drive and stopped to check it out. Police said the noise was from Dloughy and her car as she was trying to push in the air bag.

Police said an open container of alcohol was also found in the car as Dloughy was questioned about her car.

Dloughy was taken to Orangetown Police Headquarters in Orangeburg, where police said she refused to take a chemical breath test for alcohol. She was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and cited for violations including leaving the scene of an accident and having the open container of alcohol.

She was later released to a friend pending a hearing in Orangetown Town Court on Feb. 13. Police impounded the damaged car.
