Hazardous Weather Outlook also in effect.

Baten down the hatches and keep an eye out for flying tree limbs, Brooklyn!

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory and a hazardous weather outlook from 12 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The advisory warns residents to expect strong, gusty winds out of the south between 20 and 30 miles per hour, with gusts as powerful as 50 mph.

The most active wind periods are likely to be in the afternoon and late into the night.

Residents should watch out for downed trees and power lines, and should avoid driving at times of extremely high wind.

Homeowners should also make sure any lawn or playground equipment is properly secured.
