Small Fire Quickly Extinguished on Dean Street

Firefighters subdued small fire in just 10 minutes.

Fire struck early this morning at 552 Dean St., but firefighters were able to get it under control in just 10 minutes.

Firefighters were called to the scene at 12:59 a.m., arrived at 1:02 a.m. and had the fire under control at 1:12, said Firefighter and spokesman Mike Davidson.

The fire was in the second-floor apartment of a four-unit townhouse, Davidson said.

Davidson couldn't immediately say the cause of the fire, or in what room it started, but he noted that to get it under control so quickly, it had to be "very, very small."

No one was hurt, Davidson said, and no damage was visible from outside the building this afternoon.
