Six Firearms Traffickers Indicted On 558-Count Charge

A seven-month investigation by NYPD's firearm unit led to the arrest of six people now facing charges for intending to sell a "large number" of guns purchased in Georgia to buyers in Brooklyn.

Police said in a press release Wednesday that Michael Brewer Quick, Rodney Cantrell Brewer, Emmanuel Caswell, Aliya Camille Dowell, Albert Ellis Pless, and Marcus White have been indicted on a 558-count charge for their crimes.

The indictment states that Quick, who has a residency in Georgia as well as Staten Island, conspired with five other individuals to acquire an arsenal of guns from Georgia and the surrounding areas and send them to the Canarsie area of Brooklyn with the intention to amass huge profits from their sale.

All defendants are charged with conspiracy in the fourth degree, and all but Dowell are charged with possession of a firearm in the first degree.

“Guns sold illegally find their way into the hands of criminals and often destroy lives. This family of gun traffickers did not hesitate to distribute illegal guns in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn, but thanks to the hard work of the investigators and prosecutors involved, this pipeline of firearms has been shut down,” said Police Commissioner Bill Bratton.
