Rash of Crimes at Vanderbilt McDonald's

In May, the McDonald's at the corner of Vanderbilt and Atlantic was prey to two spates of crime. According to crime reports from the 77th Precinct:

A man stole $11,202 during the month of May by using counterfeit money orders. According to the owner, the man came into the store 12 times and used fake U.S. Postal Money orders, each purporting to be worth $933.50, to buy about $400 worth of food. He then received his change in cash.

Then, on the evening of May 17 between 9 and 9:30 p.m., three people had items stolen from their cars, which were parked in McDonald's lot: a 16-year-old lost his $300 netbook, a 15-year-old boy had his Nike Hyperdunk sneakers and Northface backpack, worth a total of $180 taken from his car in the McDonald's lot and a 24-year-old man had his $800 laptop and a set of keys taken.
