Water Main Heist Goes Bad

Two men were arrested after they tried to steal a water main pipe from that huge street work project on Eastern Parkway, according to a police report.

The men brazenly picked up the $150 pipe Saturday, April 30, from the site and loaded it into a van, but were caught before they could make off with the goods, according to the report.

Good Samaritan Stops Home Invasion

A man wearing a red shirt and red baseball hat kicked down two doors of a three-family home but fled without taking anything after a 19-year-old woman saw him and called the police.

The break-in happened on Eastern Parkway near Franklin Avenue at about 2 p.m. on April 26, according to the report.

 

Two Car Break-Ins

A thief made off with $240 in cash, a $100 home deport gift card, assorted ID and credit cards as well as bills and the driver’s personal papers after breaking into a 1997 Plymouth Van parked on Bergen Street near Franklin Avenue on Sunday, according to a police report.

A second break-in was not so fruitful.

A thief broke into a 1970 Oldsmobile parked on Prospect Place near Franklin Avenue April 28 and made off with $3 in change, according to a police report. The car’s gas tank was also open, but the report did not say whether any gas was missing.   

 

Pizza Theft  

A pizza joint was out $23.32 after someone took the two pies without paying, according to a police report.

The delivery person showed up at the Lincoln Place building between Franklin and Classon just after midnight on April 27. But when he handed over the pizza, the man refused to pay.
