Police Blotter: iPhone Snatch, Vanderbilt Avenue Burglary, More

A roundup of crime from the 77th precinct.

The following information was supplied by the 77th Precinct of the NYPD. It does not indicate a conviction.

iPhone Snatch

On Tuesday a thief grabbed a young woman's $200 iPhone out of her hand as she walked down Sterling Place. The perp fled the scene and was not apprehended. Police are searching for a six foot tall black male weighing 180 lbs around the age of 20.

Burglar goes window shopping

A female resident of Vanderbilt Avenue returned to her apartment to find her rear window and screen open and two pieces of electronics missing. Evidently a thief entered from the fire escape between 12:15 and 1:30 on Friday morning, snatching a $1000 HP laptop and a $100 purple iPod.

Road Rage

A traffic dispute led to an assault on Vanderbilt Avenue on Friday. The defendant hit the victim on the side of the head with an open palm during a driving-related altercation. A 27 year old man was arrested by police at the scene.

Punch and Run

A 29 year old male was walking at the corner of St. Johns and Franklin on Sunday morning when an unknown assailant punched him in the mouth before fleeing. The victim did not get a good look at his attacker, who is still at large, reporting only that the man was around 5'8". The attack left the victim with bruises and a swollen lip.

Laundry Room Fracas

A resident of a Classon Avenue apartment building was doing her laundry in a communal laundry room when a fellow tenant approached her and started an argument. The agressor then placed his hands around the victim's throat, banged her head against the wall, and took her phone so she couldn't call 911. Even so, the attacker was arrested shortly thereafter.

Another home burglary

Nearly $1000 of electronics went missing when a thief broke into a St. John's Avenue apartment and escaped with a laptop and a netbook. The victim returned home to find her lock broken and the items missing. The crime reporedly took place between 9PM and 1130Pm on Sunday March 4th.
