Police Blotter: Robberies, Burglaries, Assaults

Vanderbilt Avenue Break-in
A woman returned to her Vanderbilt Avenue apartment after a few hours away to find that thieves had entered through the fire escape window and taken her $1200 Macbook, a $300 sapphire ring, and a credit card. The crime took place between 8:00 and 10:00pm on Tuesday March 13th.

A "heavily intoxicated" man called the police at 3:15AM on Sunday morning to report that he had been attacked by unknown assailants, who took his cell phone and $500 cash. He could not offer much detail on the perpetrators, except to say that one was either an Asian or a Pacific Islander. The crime took place on Dean Street.
Box Cutter-weilding Burglar

A young woman was standing in the vestibule of her apartment building when a man approached her from behind. He told her that he was holding a box cutter, and that he would use it unless she handed over her iPhone. After the victim complied, the thief—a black male in his mid 30s with brown eyes and a buzz cut—fled on a bicycle.
Assault at a Baby Shower
A man was beaten by an unknown assailant while attending a baby shower on Classon Avenue on Saturday, March 17th at 11:30pm. An unknown black male punched the victim in the face—causing bleeding and swelling—before fleeing on foot. The victim was taken to the hospital and released.
Another Apple Product Targeted
Continuing a recent citywide , yet another person was targeted for her Apple electronics Sunday, March 18th. In this case, the thief made of with an iPod touch. A young woman was walking down Bergen Street on Saturday night when the perp approached her on a bicycle, grabbed her arm, and wrested the music player out of her grip.
Seats Stolen from Car
An 82-year-old man reported last Tuesday that the seats were stolen out of his 2008 Chevy Impala after he left the car parked on St. Marks Avenue for two days. The value of the seats and the motive of the robbers could not be determined.
Schoolyard Bullying Spills Over
A student was walking home from school on Bedford Avenue when a classmate approached her, said "what's up", and began beating her with a lock. The victim suffered cuts and bruses on her face and back. The attacker has been identified but has yet to be arrested, as of the writing of this report.
