Police Blotter: Park Place Burglary Jackpot, Bike Thefts Continue and More

Park Place Burglary Nets $10K

A thief hit the jackpot when he broke into an apartment on Park Place at Franklin Avenue and stole $10,180 worth of jewelry and electronics. There were no signs of forced entry, but the 28-year-old resident said that she may have left her window onto the fire escape unlocked, and it was open when she got home. Taken were three apple computers worth about $5,000, a Hasselbland camera and lens worth $2,500, diamond earrings worth $1,000 a $2,500 gold necklace and an $80 gold watch.

$840 Shoplifting at 1 of a Find

A “well dressed” man wearing a beige overcoat stole a Channel gold-tone belt worth $515 and a Fendi black and gold bag worth $325 at 1 of a Find on  Vanderbilt Avenue between Prospect and Park Place on Monday, Nov. 14 sometime between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m.

 

$1,500 Bag Snatch

A 51-year-old man was unloading his car on Sterling Place at Vanderbilt Avenue when someone grabbed his backpack out of his hand and fled. The man had more than $1,500 worth of electronics in his bag including an Acer tablet, digital camera, iPod and cell phone. The theft took place just after 10 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19.

 

Bike Thefts Continue

There were at least two bike thefts last week:

  • A 27-year-old woman discovered Friday, Nov. 18, that her bike was stolen from her building on Prospect Place at Classon, where she left it unlocked overnight in the hallway.
  • A 32-year-old woman discovered her $300 Shogun bike stolen from the hallway of her building on Prospect Place at Vanderbilt Avenue on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 19.
