Blotter: $8,000 Piece of MTA Equipment Nabbed, Bike Theft, Drug Bust, More

$8,000 Piece of Equipment Stolen From MTA Workers

Continuing the , a piece of survey equipment worth at least $8,000 was stolen after MTA workers briefly left it unattended on the sidewalk at the corner of Park Place and Carlton Avenue at about noon on Oct. 4.

Unlocked Bike Stolen

A 31-year-old woman reports the theft of her $450 bike, which she left unlocked overnight on the third floor landing of her apartment building on Washington Avenue at Sterling Place on Oct. 4. Also taken was a $100 bike lock.

 

Drug Bust

A 54-year-old man was charged with drug possession after cops say they saw him with heroin in open view on St. Johns Place just off Grand Army Plaza in the middle of the afternoon on Oct. 5.

 

Car Break-Ins

At least four cars were broken into in the past week:

  • A 2001 Nissan Versa parked on St. Marks Avenue between Carlton and Vanderbilt was broken into on Sunday and a $150 GPS and a $500 laptop taken;
  • Also on Sunday, a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder was broken into on Underhill at Lincoln Place and a $279 GPS and $100 in other electronics taken;
  • A 2005 Kia was broken into on Prospect Place between Classon and Franklin on the morning of Oct. 6, and a $140 GPS and a $50 GPS stand taken;
  • And on the same day, a car parked on St. Johns Place between Washington and Underhill was broken into and a $25 GPS and $340 worth of clothing dishes taken.
