Police Blotter: Muggings, Missing Motorcycles and Multiple Car Break-ins

Reports from the 77th Precinct

Mugging on Pacific Street 

A 22-year-old woman was assaulted on Sunday, Dec. 18 inside the hallway of an apartment building on Pacific Street between Washington and Grand Avenue. A man described as “30-something, with medium skin tone and a clear complexion" allegedly pushed the victim and said, “Shut the [expletive] up” before stealing a number of items including a $300 Coach purse, a wallet, drivers license and Blackberry phone charger.

Prospect Place Arrest for Theft of Taxi Services

A 29-year-old woman was arrested on Friday, Dec. 16 at the corner of Prospect Place and Flatbush Avenue for refusing to pay her cab fare totaling $48.30. The driver, 51, reported the incident. Police said the woman resisted arrest, flailing her arms and legs in the process.

 

Cell Phones (and Identity) Snatched

  • A 59-year-old Dean Street resident filed a complaint on Thursday, Dec. 17 that someone stole his $355 phone earlier in the month and has been using his personal information to create false cell phone- and credit card- accounts in his name since. Charges are in now excess of $3,500.
  • On Monday Dec. 19, a 28-year-old woman was entering a building on Butler Place at Sterling, when she was approached from behind by an assailant who grabbed her cell phone and gym bag. After a brief struggle, the attacker fled with the victim’s belongings.

 

Drug Arrest on St. Johns Place 

On Wednesday, Dec. 14, at the Southwest corner of St. Johns Place and Bedford Avenue, a 65-year-old man was found in possession of a straw with cocaine residue on it. Later searches revealed that he also had marijuana.

 

Electronics Stolen on Lincoln Place

A 32-year-old man living on Lincoln Place between Franklin and Classon Avenues became the victim of an in-house theft after leaving a friend alone to watch television in his living room while he slept. When the victim awoke to go to work on Friday, Dec. 16, the friend had vanished—along with a $650 laptop and $218 cell phone. Calls to the friend have yielded no response.

 

Burglary on Franklin Avenue

On Friday, Dec. 16, a woman living on Franklin Avenue and Bergen Street reported being robbed of items valued at $800, including a 55-inch television to a Nintendo Wii and various pieces of jewelry. With no signs of a break-in, it appears to be an inside job perpetrated by someone with access to the apartment.

 

Motorcycle Missing on Classon Avenue

A 2009 Kymco People 150 motor bike worth $2,000 was stolen between the hours of  12:30 p.m. and 2:48 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 14. The 29-year-old owner had chained it to fence on Classon Avenue between Bergen and Dean Streets. 

 

Volkswagon Jetta Jacked on Sterling Place

A black 2007 Volkswagon Jetta was reported missing from Sterling Place between Vanderbilt and Underhill. The 52-year-old owner had left it parked in a public garage on Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. and found it gone at 8 p.m. on Dec. 14.

 

Multiple Car Break-ins

Five cars were broken into and had items inside stolen between Dec. 12 and Dec. 18. Four additional cars had broken windows with nothing taken between Dec. 13 and Dec. 15.
