Police Blotter: Man Charged With DWI After Cops Find Him Asleep at Wheel with Car in Drive

DWI Arrest

A 25-year-old man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a cop saw him asleep at the wheel while the car was running and still in drive.

Cops spotted the man in his Chevy Aveo while it was double parked on Franklin Avenue between St. Johns and Lincoln places at 2:52 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 19.

After a police officer woke the man up, he was “unable to respond to the officer’s commands.” He also had watery eyes, slurred speech, “disarranged” clothing and a strong smell of alcohol. He refused to take a Breathalyzer test, according to a police report.

 

Ecstasy Arrest

A 23-year-old man was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance after a cop spotted him with a Ziploc bag of ecstasy on Franklin Avenue between Prospect and St. Marks at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18.

 

Window Smash

A 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with criminal mischief he punched the drivers side window of a car so hard that shattered. The report did not say why the man smashed the window. The incident happened on Dean Street between Classon and Franklin on Monday, Feb. 13 at 8:25 p.m.
