Police Blotter: Man Attacked on Washington Avenue

Random Attack at Bergen and Washington

A 24-year-old man went to the hospital after someone attacked him with a padlock at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Bergen Street last week.

The man was at the corner when someone hit his car, breaking the driver’s side mirror. Then the attacker hit the victim on the head with the lock and took off. The man was treated for cuts to the head by EMS workers and taken to Methodist Hospital for evaluation. The attack took place at 8:40 p.m. on Monday, June 4, a according to a police report.

School Laptop Theft

Someone stole two laptops, 12 children’s work books and other small items worth a total of $536 from a teacher’s locked closet inside her classroom at P.S. 22 on St. Marks Avenue near Classon. The teacher discovered the items missing on May 30, according to a police report.

Driver Flees Accident

A 36-year-old man reported that a driver left the scene after rear-ending his car so hard he hit the car in front of him. The accident took place on Washington Avenue between Sterling and St. Johns places at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, according to a police report.

 

Open-Air Marijuana Arrest

A 19-year-old man was arrested after a cop saw him with a marijuana cigar in his hand at the corner of Classon Avenue and Bergen street on Wednesday, June 6 at 1:36 p.m., according to a police report.

 

Weapons Arrest

A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with weapons possession after a cop on patrol saw him with a .38 millimeter silver revolver on Sterling Place near the corner of Bedford. The arrest took place at 5:41 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, according to a police report.
