Police Blotter: Good Samaritans Chase Down iPhone Thief

Good Samaritans Chase Down iPhone Thief

A 17-year-old boy was charged with snatching an iphone out of the hand of a 57-year-old woman as she was walking on Washington Avenue near Lincoln Place. The woman yelled out and two bystanders ran after the boy, catching him on Eastern Parkway and holding him until cops arrived. The event took place on Friday, May 4 at 4:30 p.m., according to a police report.

Vehicle Break-in Jackpot

A thief hit the jackpot when he or she broke into a vehicle and made off with 7,800 worth of property including two MacBook Pros, an IBM ThinkPad, an iPad and a cartier watch. A 42-year-old woman said she was moving into a new apartment and left all the valuable itmes in the vehicle when she went inside for the night at about 2 a.m.  At 10:30 the next morning the items were gone. The break-in took place on Sunday April 29 on Prospect Place at the corner of Underhill, according to a police report. The report did not indicate whether the vehicle was a car or moving van. 

 

Eastern Parkway iPhone Snatch

A 23-year-old woman was walking her bike in front of the  when a man wearing True Religion blue denim jacket came up to her,  grabbed her iPhone 4G, and ran into the train station, according to a police report. 

 

License Plate Theft

A 43-year-old man reported that the license plate was stolen off his car, which was parked on Washington Avenue between Park and Sterling places, sometime between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Friday May 4.

 

Two Marijuana Arrests

A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged with marijuana possession afer a cop spotted him on Sterling Place near Franklin Avenue with a marijuana cigar. Back at the station cops found more pot on the man. The arrest took place at 10:10 a.m. on Friday, May 4.

The same day, a 21-year old man was arreseted after a cop spotted him rolling a joint on Eastern Parkway between Classon and Franklin avenues. When the cop approached the man, he put the joint in his mouth. The officer fished it out and tried to arrest the man, the man tried to resist arrest by grabbing a park bench, according to a police report.
